Welcome to Unearthed & Unhinged

I have wasted a lot of my life trying to be normal. I remember being really young and just having a realization that I was not like the other kids in my class. I thought about things differently, and for the most part, that has served me well. I am able to see beyond the conventional box and get curious about things that I feel are causing the vibrations, not simply looking at the vibrations themselves. This isn’t to brag or somehow pat myself on the back. It actually has taken me a long time to get to the point that I appreciate this about myself. When you are younger, you just want to fit in. You want people to like you. You want to be popular. At the very least, you don’t want people to pick on you. So in the midst of getting my head slammed into lockers, you can imagine that being unique was not something I saw as a benefit to my life. I remember many a prayer where I would just ask God to make me “normal”. Looking back, I can now see I was asking Him to deny the God-given design. But I’ll give teenager me a little grace because it is hard to see clearly when you are in the midst of the growing pains.
I say all of that to give you a little insight into the name of this platform.
At some point, I realized that uncovering, excavating, and being a little off kilter was a benefit to how I experience the world. There is wonder in the mystery of realizing that you are never quite fully done. That there is more to learn, more to uncover, and being unhinged allows you to stay in a space of anticipation to explore. I hope that as you join me on this journey, you will see that you too can begin to look for God in all the usual and unusual spaces. That His scriptures are deep and rich with the words of a compassionate God that is madly in love with you. That you were designed to encounter this world uniquely and to impact it in ways that only you can. I pray this can be a community of education, but also a place of wonder and safety.
So join me as we unearth the divine life He intended and discover how delightfully unhinged we can become in the process.
