I have wasted a lot of my life trying to be normal. When you are younger, you just want to fit in. You want people to like you. You want to be popular. At the very least, you don’t want people to pick on you. So in the midst of getting my head slammed into lockers, you can imagine that being unique was not something I saw as a benefit to my life.
